I might have missed it but it seems they focused on Felix and Funke but never mentioned Mother Wolf. He definitely puts in the work but feels this episode is lacking in many ways.
I also watched the next 2 episodes. I agree with your overall take on the episode. That first episode is kind of just boring as you guys mentioned on the podcast as well.
Great segment. Especially the part where you said “don’t act like you’re doing something for our culture”. Italians love when people embrace our culture and even borrow from it. But you’d better damn well respect it when you are.
You couldn´t even get the "He appropriated my culture to feed his thirst for validation" argument right, as you begin with him doing right by the women. "As Evan’s career has progressed, he has increasingly become the focus of it" - what are you even yapping about? Centering identity around one´s carreer is inherently what seperates the most successful from those who diversify their time and efforts. You are just a parasite, aiming for clicks with an edgy title about content you didn´t create yourself. Seriously, if I were you I would consider killing myself.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who got vibes from this guy. I think it started when he was washing that Porsche and talking about working for Puck right out of culinary school. But I kept watching because I felt nostalgic about Bologna, I lived there for a year and really wish I could go back and do things the way I wanted (not trying to attend a crappy international program at university).
It’s funny how you brought up him speaking Italian. Being self-taught and a language nerd, I am always trying to “suss out” people’s skills in the language. It *appears* that he understands the spoken language better than he can speak it - and it’s true that comprehension comes before output - but he seems rusty in conjugation. I guess living there for three months and then traveling back and forth helped, but if I were in his shoes and *that* obsessed with making pasta, I would be chatting up a storm with those ladies. Or maybe that’s just me, because I just like learning languages.
Can we talk about the Esquire guy at the beginning saying TAG-lee-uh-telli?! Did Funke not coach this guy how to say it right lol

Totally agree. It glossed over some really important parts... ultimately did him a disservice in that sense

That's very well said
Do t you have anything else to do than tear down someone’s passion.
You try making it by hand… 48$ is nothing.
I am Italian. My mom taught me how to make pasta by hand and it has been a blessing for him to bring the memory of Carmelina my mama back in my heart.

That escalated quickly lmao
